THE weather for Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club's men’s October Medal turned out to be the calm before the storm, which was to follow later that night.

He started par, double-bogey, birdie, and followed this with a string of 14 pars and finished with a bogey. The Division Two leader was Tony Burt who carded a nett 71 and Richard Fox topped Division Three with the same score.

Ladies’ Section

ELIZABETH Thompson and Dianne Edwards, along with Sue Kelson were the runaway winners of the lady captain’s Charity Day Bowmaker competition, writes Rosemary Shepherd.

Their team score of 87 points put them well ahead of the rest of the field.

In warm ideal conditions, 48 members and guests, in teams of three, took part dressed and accessorised in the colours of the charity logo.

All entry fees, donations and proceeds from raffles and auctions will go to the Yeovil Opportunities Group.

This charity provides respite care and special needs provision for families and children in Yeovil and the surrounding areas.

Prizes for the day were generously donated by local businesses and organisations.

Other prize winners were Julie Oliver and her guests Tracy Bryant and Carol Ann in second place with 79 points. With 77 points were Di Neal, Linda Knapp and Chris Ritchie.

Pat Baldwin, Sandra March and Sally Woolmington were in fourth place with 76 points.

The real winner on the day was the charity, which will benefit by a donation of in excess of £400.
