LYME REGIS 7

WILLAND ROVERS RESERVES 4

LYME Regis manager Robin Townsend was left content after his side scored seven of 11 goals at Davey Fort on Saturday.

The Seasiders were 5-1 up at the interval and, despite shipping three in the second half, went on to claim a comfortable victory in Devon & Exeter Division One.

Speaking after the game, in which Rob Fellingham scored twice from the spot for Lyme, Townsend said: “It was very good for the neutral, not so pleasing when you are on the sidelines!

“It was great to score seven goals at home, I am all for that but it’s just disappointing to concede four.”

He added: “I can’t be too disappointed, but to concede four goals at home, I was not best pleased for that bit. We let ourselves down massively there.

“All we could do was beat the people in front of us and take the points. That’s all I was after.

“It’s much nicer to win 1-0 than it is 7-4 I would say. I am probably being a bit old school in that scenario.”

Victory mean Lyme sit third in the league table, six points adrift of leaders Cronies FC.

The Seasiders will now turn their attentions to an East Devon Senior Cup clash against Heavitree United at home on Saturday (2pm), a side that sit sixth in the league above Townsend’s men.
