LYME REGIS 5

UNIVERSITY III 1

AFTER spending more than a month kicking their heels without a competitive game, Lyme Regis got back in action with a bang as they comfortably saw off Exeter University Thirds.

And interim boss Rob Thom is hopeful his side can use the result as a springboard to catapult the Seasiders up the Devon & Exeter Division Two table throughout the latter stages of the campaign.

“It was a fantastic performance and result really,” he said.

“We thought we might have been rusty but it was probably one of our best performances of the season.”

Despite going behind against the students at Davey Fort, goals from Dec Ellis (2), Rob Fellingham, Joe Bond, Adam Caddy ensured they scooped all three points.

Thom added: “It was a really top performance full of pace and passion which is what I asked for. Hopefully we can take that momentum and put a string of results together, which would be nice.

“Adam Caddy was back and was in central midfield. He had an absolutely superb game, he was winning the ball and distributing it really well.

“The only downside to the game was that the referee managed to damage the nose of Rob Fellingham.

“As he went to turn around Rob was stood behind him and he ran backwards into him, he caught him accidently and had to come off at 3-1.”
