LYME Regis face the daunting task of fitting in more than half of their entire league fixture programme into the last five weeks of the season – but boss Tim Edwards is confident his players will be up to the task as they chase silverware on two fronts.

The Seasiders play the first of 14 games in 36 days tonight when they host Perry Street League Premier Division basement boys Winsham at Davey Fort (6.15pm), with leaders Crewkerne Town to follow at home on Saturday (2.30pm).

A big week continues next Tuesday with a trip to Millwey Rise (6.15pm) before Lyme visit Beaminster (6.15pm) two days later.

Edwards believes his team, who currently lie sixth in the table, have the ability to get the points they need to eventually overhaul Crewkerne at the top, but, inevitably, his main concern is the effect injuries and fatigue could have on the squad.

“We’re already struggling with a couple of injuries so it’s all going to be about how we keep the squad together,” he said. “We’re going to have to take each week as it comes and see how we get through each game.

“We’re down to a squad of 14 or 15 so I’m hoping that we don’t pick up any injuries, but if we keep everyone fit we won’t be too far away.

“The games against Crewkerne, Beaminster and Perry Street are going to be tough, but I’m confident in the lads.

“We will give it a go and I’d like to think that with the squad I have available we’ll have enough to get through it.”

Lyme are also through to the Dorset Intermediate Cup final on April 15.
