LYME Regis boss Tim Edwards couldn’t be much happier with the position his team are in going into the second half of the campaign.

The Seasiders have yet to lose a Perry Street Premier League game this term and are also through to the semi-finals of the Dorset Inter-mediate Cup, all in Edwards’ first season in charge.

And with the club’s reserve team in good shape too it augurs well for a successful 2014.

“I’ve got to be happy with how things have gone so far,” said Edwards. “Considering we’ve got quite a young squad who are all getting to know each other I think we have done fairly well so far.

“There is a long way to go but I’d like to think we’ll be somewhere near the top come the end of the season.

“I expect us to be there or thereabouts and if we win our games in hand we’ll go top of the league.

“We’ve got a lot of tough games to come but it would be great if we can finish the season with a trophy.”

With a relatively big squad to choose from one problem Edwards does have is trying to keep everyone active.

“Because we’ve got so many players it can be tricky keeping people happy when they are fighting for places,” he added.

“It’s good to have Joe Bond back and our captain Matt Laing is a big influence after being in and out of the team through injury in the first few weeks.

“We’ve got a good bunch of lads and a great team spirit, and not just in our team but throughout the club.

“And when things are going well on the pitch it always makes for a happy changing room.”
