WINSHAM 0 LYME REGIS 5

LYME Regis hit five for the third Perry Street Premier League match in a row to ease past rock-bottom Winsham.

The Seasiders remain unbeaten in the league this season and should continue their great run of form at struggling Combe Reserves this Saturday (2pm).

Joe Bond and Julien Simier were on target again at Winsham with the former opening the scoring after just eight minutes.

The second came courtesy of Ben Whittington from a Sam Jones free-kick as Lyme took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Joel Gosling set up Simier for Lyme’s third before Bond netted his second and Mark Bailey completed the rout in the closing stages.

“We can’t seem to get past five at the moment,” joked Lyme boss Tim Edwards. “It was the same as the last game, our keeper didn’t have a save to make all match.

“They had four 16-year-olds playing for them and never really got going, so it was quite comfortable for us.

“The other good thing was that for the first time this season I was able to pick the same starting line up two weeks in a row.”

Combe did the league double over Lyme last season, though the Seasiders did beat them in the Coronation Cup.

Edwards added: “We’re going along quite nicely and will look to get through this Saturday ready for the cup game against Parley.”

Lyme remain third in the Perry Street Premier League, three points behind leaders Perry Street with as many games in hand on them.
