KARL Diment is determined to keep his side ticking over despite the ongoing run of postponements in the Perry Street League.

Only a handful of games escaped the adverse weather at the weekend and unfortunately Lyme Regis were not one of the lucky ones as their Challenge Cup tie against Farway fell to a waterlogged pitch.

However, they did take on Chard Town in a friendly on a 3G pitch in Yeovil where Steve Batey, Julian Simier and Jack Durrant all found the target in a narrow 4-3 defeat.

Boss Diment, whose side is scheduled to travel to South Petherton in the Premier Division on Saturday (2.30pm), said: “It is a frustrating time for everyone at the minute and looking at the forecast it doesn’t look good for this coming weekend either.

“With so many games being postponed all over the place it is important to keep the lads ticking over and that is why we have been so keen to arrange friendlies on the 3G, which we have booked again this Saturday – just in case.

“We played Chard last weekend and it was a really good exercise.

“They had their full first team out and I thought we put on a good performance.

“The lads certainly enjoyed it and hopefully by playing these friendlies we will be a lot sharper than anyone else when the competitive games do finally start up again in the coming weeks.”

Reigning champions Lyme currently lie second in the Premier Division, one point adrift of Beaminster with a game in hand.
