Bridport buoyed by trio

PAVILION SPORTS v

BRIDPORT

BRIDPORT take on Pavilion Sports in Dorset Funeral Plan League Division Two tomorrow (2pm) determined to erase their opening day defeat.

Chris Backhouse's side were undone by Hamworthy Rec-reation at the Brewery Ground last weekend, who just managed to defend a score of 241 after being put into bat.

But Bridport were without several key personnel due to unavailability, all of whom should return in the clash at King's Park in Bournemouth against another side who lost their first match.

Lynchpin Sean Fitzgerald, opener Matt Sherring and young fast bowler Ashley Nicholls are desperate to impress and will be aiming to take their frustration over missing the season's inaugural fixture out on Sports.

And Backhouse, who is delighted to a have a fully fit squad to choose from, said: "We're looking to win tomorrow and we should be at full strength, which will help us.

"The guys who came on Saturday did really well to get 12 points, but with some of the regular players returning we're aiming to do even better.

"I was impressed with some of the performances at the weekend and if we can take them into tomorrow's match we'll hopefully get the victory."
