Chrissy fails to retain title

TOUGH ASK: Chrissy Richardson TOUGH ASK: Chrissy Richardson

CHRISSY Richardson just failed to retain her world crown at the PUMA World Championships in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The two-day international taekwondo event saw students take part in patterns and sparring events. Richardson (2nd Dan), who is an assistant instructor at the Bridport Evolution Martial Arts club, looked on course for a repeat performance but it proved a tough ask on the day.

Richardson had to settle for bronze in the featherweight (-53kg) division, losing in the semi-final to the eventual winner.

It was a close fight that went to extra-time but Richardson was unable to beat the Scottish 4th Dan.
