HAMWORTHY UNITED RESERVES 0

BRIDPORT Reserves returned to winning ways with a five-star show against their Hamworthy United counterparts.

Carl Bulman, Adam Steele, Tristan Gale, Jack Scovell and Ashley Clarke all found the net at St Mary’s Field as the Bees ended a run of three games without a win in the Magna Dorset Premier League.

Boss Steve Crabb, whose side moved up a place to seventh, said: “It was the best we have played for a little while – we played really well.

“We created quite a few openings in the first half but it took until the half-hour mark for us to score through Carl Bulman.

“We could quite easily have been three or even four-nil up at half-time but they should have made it 1-1 right on the stroke of half-time.

“We broke immediately after they hit the post and a good five-man move had Adam Steele scoring to make it 2-0.

“We continued in the same vein in the second half and won comfortably. Ben Clarke was probably our best player on the day.

“It was pleasing to see us win comfortably and play well at the same time. It was also good to have a few youngsters on the bench as our aim is to bring the best youngsters down to the club.”

Bridport’s next outing is Saturday’s visit of reigning champions Hamworthy Recreation (2pm).

Crabb added: “We are beating the teams we think we should be beating.

“We are not expected to get a great deal from the game on Saturday but we go into it with confidence and if play like we did against Hamworthy United there’s no reason why we can’t get something out of the game.”

Bees: Fry, Stordy, Day (Peart 55), A Clarke, C Bulman, R Cummings (Gape 65), Lock, Steele (Jones 60), B Clarke, Gale, Scovell.
