WEST Dorset Water Polo Club experienced mixed fortunes in their opening outing of the year at Blandford.
The young KS2 team, aged eight to 10, went down 10-0 in their first ever competitive match.
Although they did not score, the Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre outfit battled throughout with near misses coming from Cameron Robinson and skipper Tom Bradbury.
There were also fine performances from Luke Wheeler, George Green and goalkeeper Taylor Moore.
In contrast, KS3 triumphed 10-4 thanks to goals from Cam Dabbs, Tom Foyle, Kriss Radivjosa and captain Ellie Webb.
Harry Wheeler and George Gordon also deserved huge credit for their great defensive work while James Warne pulled off some fine saves.
