WATER-POLO continues to boom in Bridport with the existence of the Bridport Barracudas.

Both children and adults play the fast-paced and exhilarating water sport at Bridport Leisure Centre under the expert guidance of the club's coaches, developing water confidence, building fitness and teaching new skills.

The club has a long history of playing the game dating back to the 20th century where games were regularly played in the River Brit. Bridport continued to play in the River Brit until the 1990s before switching to the new local leisure centre.

Sea training at West Bay in continues in the summer, while the club participate in the Dorset Water Polo League and the ASA SW Regional Championships, whilst a number of the club's players represent county and regional teams.

Many women and girls have taken up the sport, with the Barracudas enjoying healthy female representation.

New members of any ability or age are welcome to the club, with junior sessions for 6-11 year-olds taking place from 4-5pm on Thursdays, and 11- 16 year-olds from 7.30-8.30pm on Mondays.

The junior sessions are run by the club's coaches throughout the year at Bridport Leisure Centre and are very popular. All children attending have a range of different abilities which makes the sport accessible for beginners. For more information on junior water-polo please contact 01308 427464.
