CHARD and District swimmers finished fourth in round one of the National Arena League at Bristol Horfield.

The team showed great commitment, determination and team spirit, between them swimming 50 events including individual and relay races finishing in the top three positions in 20 races.

Swimmers that competed were Millie Downes, Abi Greenslade, Ben Greenslade, Esme Huntley, Mia Huntley, Alice Clark, Phoebe Clark, Catherine Webb, Ben Webb, Kaitlyn Flannigan, Henry Birchall, Harry Byrnes, Harrison Larcombe, Grace Lambert, Mia Porter Freddie Coles, Louis Whittome, Megan Herbert, Xanthe Dyer, Joss Copeman, Ollie Bright, Louis Rood, Hannah Pullinger, Jamie Pullinger, Simon Davis, Iain Ross, Briana Barrand, Edward Sims, Oliver Collins, Harry Byrnes, Malcolm Greenslade.

The club would like to thank judges Richard Flannigan, Gordon Davis and Ian Copeman.

Meanwhile, six girls from the club swam at the Exeter City Open meet held in Plymouth.

For some of the swimmers it was their first level two open meet.

Brianna Barrand swam the 100m breaststroke and achieved silver and in the 50m breaststroke she achieved a gold medal.

Millie Downes competed in the 100m breaststroke and achieved a gold. She also achieved silver in the 50m breaststroke.

Both girls achieved personal bests and their regional times for 2018.

Both Phoebe and Alice Clark took part in the 50m breaststroke, with the latter earning a personal best and not only a county time but a regional consideration time.

Xanthe Dyer swam and achieved four county times and Kaitlyn Flannigan, competing in the 200m breaststroke, achieved a personal best and a county qualifying time.
