FOUR Jurassic Swimmers will be taking on the River Dart 10km open water swim challenge to raise money for disabled children to receive one-to-one shimming lessons.

The event, which starts in Totnes and ends in Dittisham is the equivalent of a marathon and needs lots of training to be able to complete.

Lucy Watkinson, a mindfulness teacher, Nick Stonex, a one-to-one private swimming teacher, Barbara Mellor, a yoga teacher and Natalie Ireland, manager of Newlands holiday park in Charmouth are competing on Sunday, September 10 to raise money for the Level Water Charitys.

The quartet have spent the last three months training at local swimming pools and in the sea at Charmouth and Lyme Regis. They have been battling jellyfish, fishing lines and sometimes choppy sea conditions but have been determined keep training. They are expected to complete the swim in 2.5 hours so they have been doing long sea swims to acclimatise to the cold water.
