BRIDPORT & West Dorset Golf Club men held a three-man Team Bowmaker on Sunday, writes Peter Crowter.

The winning team with 75 points was that of Martin Horton, Nathan Dunford and Mannie Wellman.

In second place were Robert Harris, Andrew Harrison and Anthony Lovelace with 74 points.

Derek Christison, Bob Harding and Mike Thompson claimed third with 73 points.

Anthony Lovelace (19) scored a hole-in-one on the 10th in Division Three of the August Medal.

Thirty-one entered the Carnival Cup for this mixed Stableford competition and the cup winner was Don McAllister (18) with 39 points.

In second place was Martin Drennan (14) 36 points and third was Nathan Dunford (19).

After countback, Carolyn McAllister (29) took fourth place with 34 points.

Veterans' Section

THE Thursday competition was the sixth and final round of the Holmes Cup.

This is a medal off the white tees and the winner of the cup is the man with the lowest total of his three best nett scores of the series.

Thirty-seven turned out for this last round on a fine morning. No one managed a sub-70 score and the best score of the day was carded by George Brown in Division One with 83-12=71.

Richard Lomax was second after countback scoring 84-12=72 and third was Roy Gill (86-14=72).

The scores in Division Two were more modest, 96-21=75, being the top scored by Richard Parry.

The next four players all scored a nett 76 and, after countback, Mick Kelson (98-22=76) was runner-up and third was Dave Boggis also on 98-22=76.

The winner of the cup was George Brown 212 with runner-up Dougie Howells (216).

Ladies’ Section

THE EG Medal was played on both Saturday and Tuesday, incorporating on Tuesday the first round the Janet Holmes Cup played over two weeks with next the round being a Stableford, writes Di Neal.

Division Two: 1 Liz Thompson (97-23=74), 2 Sally Woolmigton (100-25=75).
