JUNIOR golfer Mannie Wellman, who currently plays at both Bridport & West Dorset and Lyme Regis Golf Clubs, has qualified for the National Grand Final of the American Golf Junior Championships.
In the regional competition of 70 junior golfers at the Glamorganshire Golf Club, Penarth, the 13-year old, who plays off of a nine-handicap, scored an equal first place 36 points in torrential wind and rain before eventually being declared runner-up in a countback on the last six holes.
The National Final is being held at Gainsborough Golf Club on Wednesday, August 16 and will be filmed by Sky Sports to be aired later this year.
The final will take place over 18 holes on the Honock course with the leading nett score being declared the winner.
