MARNHULL RES 3

BRIDPORT A 5

CHAMPIONS Bridport A signed off their Dorset League Division Four campaign with victory at Marnhull.

The hosts started well with the advantage of a strong wind and took the lead from a poorly defended corner.

The Bees then took control and bagged their 100th goal of the season when Rhys Hayter slotted the ball low to the keeper’s right hand.

The visitors really should have taken the lead but missed chances cost them and to further rub salt into the wounds, the hosts regained the lead after a rare mistake from the visiting keeper and then bagged a third before half-time.

The Bees regrouped after the break and turned on the style with Rhys Hughes-Williams up front and midfielder Josh Hunter showing well alongside the skilful Samuel Handyside.

Bridport’s second came from Hunter who turned on the edge of the box to rocket a powerful shot home and then drew level through James Legg, who finished

well.

Brandon Scadding then gave the Bees the lead and the game was sealed when Hunter bagged his 24th goal in just eight games.

Captain James Pitch was replaced with minutes to go to put an end to a magnificent season for himself and his team.

Bridport travelled back to their home ground, in shirt and tie and straight into their presentation evening, to be presented with their silverware from the Dorset FA.
