MARTIN Grier is Bridport’s new club men’s champion after a 21-12 win over Ivor Parker.

It was 7-7 early on with Grier finishing the stronger.

Keith Brooks took the singles’ Plate title, beating Brian Walsh 22-10, with Martin Waters defeating Sharon Heath 21-3 in the Rookies’ final.

Mel Griffiths and John Davies won the Australian Pairs against Brian Suffling and Martin Wilton, while Peter Sandall and Mike Fletcher destroyed Brian Baker and Griffiths in the Men’s Pairs 25-6.

Meanwhile, Barbara and Keith Jenkins got the better of Lyn and Mike Craddock in the Mixed Pairs Plate 16-11.

Norman Eccles, Barry Mapson, Ken Sanger, Brian Connisbee and Annie Legg’s Seagulls won the Evening League Knockout Cup after a disastrous last wood from Brian Rumble who was skipping the Nightingales side of Bill Payne, Tony Bartlett, Dave Roberts and Ivor Parker.

Holding four shots for the win, Rumble increasingly crashed into the head to give the winning shot to the Seagulls 21-20.

Phil Hedges, Brooks, Conisbee and Legg’s Mallards won the Morning League Knockout 29-12 over Pam and Harry Gray, Peter Scott and Mike Parson’s Swingers, with opening 7-5 counts doing the damage.

Suffling, Roy Nicoll, Baker and Fletcher picked up the Drawn Rinks title 24-8 against Sue Jenkin, Anne Parkins, Laura Taylor and Jenny

Harding, with early 5-4 counts proving decisive here.

Finally, Peter Varney, Brian Parker and Shiela Nicoll, claimed the Drawn Triples 23-15 against Penny Pither, Parkins and Sue Walsh.

n Bridport’s Pamela Daters lost out to Alex Jacobs (North Wilts) 21-5 in the last 16 of the National Women’s Over-60 Singles at Nottingham.
