BRIDPORT Barracudas certainly lived up to their motto “fast and furious” at the recent County Swimming Championships.

Over the course of three consecutive weekends, the club achieved an amazing 59 personal bests, three regional qualifying times and seven regional consideration times.

It was the first experience of County-level swimming for George Boulter, Timothy Boulter and Daniel Van Zyl, while for others it was an opportunity to qualify for the ASA Regional Championships or reach a final in their favoured event.

A stand-out display came from Harry Stewart who achieved both Regional qualification and consideration times, and to Cole Dickinson who achieved Regional consideration times.

n Izzy King and Kirron Williams have been selected for the England Programmes Pathway, which aims to provide a consistent nation-wide development of young swimmers.

The County Pathway Project replaces the County’s current Talent ID scheme and focusses on the development of the 11 years’ age group.

Izzy and Kirron can look forward to three one-day camps held in the county where they will have an opportunity to hone their swimming skills.

n BRIDPORT Barracuda Swimming Club have held their Annual Prize Giving ceremony.

The presentation of certificates and trophies celebrated the success of all club members from minnows to seniors.

At the end of the evening the Club Captains for the 2017/2018 season were announced and presented with their T-shirts, with the senior captains being Jack Turner and Alex Moorey, while the vice captains were announced as Harry Stewart and Georgina Mackey.

Elsewhere Timothy Boulter and Izzy King were announced as Junior Captains ahead of another exciting year for the club.
