BRISTOL MANOR FARM 3 BRIDPORT 0

BRIDPORT had no answer to stop league leaders Bristol Manor Farm surging to a comfortable victory at the Creek.

Adam Fricker’s side, who were playing their first competitive fixture in almost a month due to postponements, were well beaten by the table-toppers, who have only dropped nine points in the division all season.

“They are an excellent team. If we had got something out the game I think we would have been lucky,” Fricker admitted after the clash.

“We had a couple of chances but nothing to write home about, they fully deserved the win and, to be fair, if it wasn’t for our keeper they could have scored more.”

The Farm set the ball rolling on 16 minutes when Ben Bament converted from close range for 1-0 after Troy Simpson’s flick on.

A near post header from Dean Stamp from a Jordan Metters corner then made it two nine minutes after half-time.

And Simpson wrapped up the game, scoring four minutes later after turning his defender and firing home.

Some heroics from Jason Hutchings in the Bees’ goal kept the score at 3-0, in a contest where Fricker was pleased to see his side not give up.

He added: “We hadn’t played for a month and it definitely showed but it was a good opportunity to dust the cobwebs off against obviously the best team in the league.

“Whatever we got would have been a bonus and, to be fair to the lads, they dug in and kept going.

“It was good to get Salts (Mark Salter) back, Oscar Latas moved the ball well but, all in all, the lads had to dig in.”
