ADAM Fricker admitted he is keen to bring in a couple of new faces as his side get set for Les Phillips Cup action this weekend away to Willand Rovers (3pm).

The Bees have signed Sol Ayunga from Dorchester Town on a month’s loan to help bring some competition to the forward roles and the manager is after more recruits to push his side on.

He said: “We’re looking to add a couple into the squad for Saturday but, we’re waiting on answers. We have made a couple of approaches and we’re just waiting.”

Bridport will want these deals to go through soon as they are suffering with injuries to four key men.

Fricker added: “On the injury front, we’re still waiting on news of Adam Barrett and his knee injury. Gary Bulman has broken his toe and Alan Hill is missing for a couple of weeks. Matt Condliffe is also going to be missing for Saturday so we’re a bit bare on numbers.

Asked if this will affect them in the cup, the boss replied: “We have players that can play in different position so we know that we have options.

“It just means we don’t have too much coming off the bench.”

The Bees have already sprung one surprise in this competition with a 5-1 win over Western League high-flyers Odd Down (Bath) in the first round.

Now, the Bridport chief wants his players to go out and put on a performance with no fear.

He explained: “We have to be confident. We have to take our current form – minus Saturday – down there and play well. It’s a no-lose situation for us.”
