COLFOX School runners impressed at the English Schools Cup event at Laverstock, Salisbury.

The junior boys got off to a great start and achieved an excellent team score in the opening race.

Fin Cauldwell was the first boy home in third place and he was closely followed by Owen Pitcher in seventh.

Mannie Wellman took ninth and Jake Childs was 10th.

Year Sevens Sam Devecsery and Bailey Huxter also finished just outside the top 20 in their first major competition.

In recent times it has been the boys that have won more regional events and this is a trend that is set to continue as the inter boys showed incredible strength in depth.

Manny Cox led from the front with one other runner and they finished almost one minute ahead of the rest of the field.

Euan Pollock, Nat Wormleighton, Frankie Chant and Zakjohn Ousley all finished in the top 10 with Marcus Burt just outside to secure an impressive low score.

The junior girls were always going to find this tough as the team comprised of four Year Seven girls so this was their first major race they had competed in.

Lucy Selway and Lea Devecsery ran brilliantly to finish in the top 25 and they were closely followed by May Cornwell, Kaie Evans, Amelia Brown, and Amelia Burt.

This is potentially the most talented group of girls the school have seen for many years and they will learn a lot from this race.

The inter girls have now qualified for the South Western Final for four consecutive years in either first or second place.

Maddy Herbert was the first Colfox girl home in third, closely followed by Olivia Willmore, Dulcie Gatehouse, Bronwyn Wright, Hannah Bowell and Ellen Pearce.

Thirty-eight schools have qualified for the South West final in Taunton in a few weeks.

Only one other school managed to get three teams through to the next stage (no school got four teams) so this demonstrates the scale of talent have Colfox have across all the year groups.
