EIGHT members of Beaminster School competed at the NSEA Team and Individual Show Jumping competition at Moreton.

The first team was made up of Emily Chubb, Nicky Lock and Tabitha Bluck, and with a team of three all their scores had to count.

As Year Seven students, Bluck and Lock are new to the school this term and so were representing their school for first time.

Although all three rode incredibly well they were not placed in this Class One – Mini 70-75cm section.

In the Class 2 – Novice 80-85cm category, Beaminster had two teams: Team A were Chubb, Bluck and Maddie Ware, Team B were Abigail Humphreys, Charlotte Tonks and Mollie Diment.

The course was very twisty with long gallops between the fences.

All of the girls rode really well and Team B finished on a brilliant score of zero as all of the girls went clear. However, Team A were not placed this time.

Everyone was extremely proud when Beaminster’s Team B were called out in first place, with Diment finishing individual fourth, Humphreys individual fifth and Bluck individual sixth.

Team B has now qualified for the National Championships at Addington in October with Diment also qualifying for the NSEA Plate Championship at Keysoe in December.

The pressure was on again in Class 3 – Intermediate 90-90cm as once again all three scores had to count.

Humphreys rode an incredible clear round, followed by Diment who also rode a textbook clear round and then Ware also rode a beautiful clear round.

This meant that they finished on a zero score on a combined time of 122.18 seconds, which put them in with a good chance of being placed.

They were awarded a team third place with Diment winning individual fourth as well. This team has also now qualified for the Plate Championships at Keysoe in October.

A school spokesman said: “The team would like to thank Esme Diment for coming along and walking the courses with the younger girls. Esme has a lot of knowledge and experience and the girls really benefited from walking the course with her.

“The Beaminster School team members were a real credit to the school and the parents who were with them wanted to thank them all for making it such a lovely day.”
