SHEPTON MALLET 3 BRIDPORT 1

ADAM Fricker insists individual errors cost his Bridport side as they suffered a disappointing reverse at Shepton Mallet.

The home side surged into the lead just one minute into the clash as a miscued strike looped into the net – a goal which the Bees could not really do much about.

After the Bees settled, Mark Salter flicked the ball on for Bridport’s Ed Butcher to convert what was a classy goal to level things up at 1-1.

The visitors continued to control the contest in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but failed to make their dominance pay and striker Salter spurned a huge opportunity after a well-delivered ball in from Butcher.

And manager Fricker’s side were then caught out with a long ball forward, which the home side found the net from to make it 2-1 and they added a third soon after to wrap up the game.

“From our point of view the most frustrating thing was our heads dropped. After that there was no way back really,” he said.

“It just seems to be individual errors that are gifting sides chances to get back into games.

“It’s something we are actively looking to eradicate.”

He added: “We gifted them a couple of goals and if you do that you deserve nothing. We could sit there and feel sorry for ourselves and say ‘we should have got a point’ but we didn’t and our performance at times was not good enough to get a point.”

The Bees host Odd Down (Bath) at St Mary’s Field on Saturday.
