FORMER Bridport player and coach Ryan Dovell has returned to Wessex League Premier Division side Hamworthy United, after disagreeing with new Bees’ manager Adam Fricker’s contract policy.

Dovell helped coach the side towards the end of last season and he claims he was not actively seeking a move away from the club.

However, he felt Fricker’s lack of concrete offers made him look elsewhere.

Explaining his decision, Dovell said: “I feel he (Adam Fricker) has left everything open and in everyone’s court to turn up to pre-season.

“He didn’t really convince me that things would be better at Bridport and he was going to make decisions after a few pre-season games.

“At my age I wanted to get my future sorted out as soon as possible.”

Now, at Hamworthy, Dovell joins up with former team-mates as he starts a new adventure.

“Because of the way the season finished down in Bridport and the uncertainty with the new manager, when Carl Poore (Hamworthy boss) contacted me, I was instantly interested in joining them.

“I have lots of friends who are still there and I know what the league is all about.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Carl and playing for him.

“It’s a new challenge and it will be interesting to see how it goes.”
