ROBIN Townsend’s time as Lyme Regis manager has started well after he revealed that most of last season’s squad will be back at the Davey Fort for their Devon & Exeter League Division One campaign.

After being announced as the man to take over from interim-boss Rob Thom last week, the former Bridport Reserves’ manager has been able to confirm his coaching line-up and his playing squad for next season.

Commenting on his new coaching line-up, Townsend remarked: “I’ve managed to sort out people to help me as that is really important.

“I’ve brought in Mark Lock, who was at Bridport with me, and I’ve managed to persuade Steve Crabb to join me.

“They have a wealth of experience and it puts the club on a good footing.

“As far as I’m aware everyone (the players) is going to stay. I’ve been assured that the important players will be here. We’re hoping to bring in a few new faces as well, and there are also some youth players at Lyme Regis who will be coming through.”

With the club having already secured back-to-back promotions last season, Townsend is gunning for yet another season of success.

He added: “I want to consolidate. I think we’re good enough for promotion but it will be hard work.”

The Seasiders are also busy securing their pre-season friendlies and have announced that they will take on Portland United on Saturday, July 9.

This date could change, however, as the pitch may not be ready at that time.
