LYME Regis manager Rob Thom hailed his side’s “fantastic achievement” in getting promoted from the FRESHA Devon & Exeter League Division Two at the first time of asking.

Dominic Rowe scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute as the Seasiders beat Cullompton Rangers Seconds 1-0 in a scrappy affair.

The victory meant they secured one of the three promotion spots in the league with a game remaining and the manager feels his team’s form in 2016 has been terrific.

“After the loss to Henry’s Cronies (in January) we were at our lowest ebb.

“We then won some winnable games and it breeded confidence.

“With a run like that we deserved promotion and we now have to focus on one more game and secure runners-up.

“It’s a fantastic achievement.”

They now face Exmouth Town Seconds on Saturday at the Davey Fort looking to sure up second spot, however Thom revealed it will be his last game in charge of the team.

“I only did it until the end of the season to help out, but once the season ends we will be looking for a new manager.

“There are a couple of names around, but we want to get the season out of the way then we will start talking to these people.

“There are options within the club and also outside of the club and we will have a look at it, and go from there.

“Hopefully we will have that sorted as soon as possible.”
