FOR the first time in its history, Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club now has a county president in its ranks.
John White became president last month and will serve a two year term representing the county at many golf events throughout this time.
A former captain and chairman of the club and a member for over 50 years, John said that he was particularly pleased for Bridport Golf Club.
White commented: “It will be quite challenging but it is going to be good fun and it is a real honour.
“I am going to be very busy. It is quite special to be the first county president from this club.
“I have to thank my Dad for getting me here. He introduced me to the game when I was 13 and it is just a shame he isn’t here today to see it all.”
This is the club’s 125th anniversary year, making them the oldest established club in the county and, for the first time, they will be holding the prestigious County Championships in May on their spectacular cliff-top course.
