PARRETT and Axe boys’ and Symondsbury girls’ teams, made up of four runners per team, were the A cup winners of the first of three cross country events for the West Dorset primary schools.

Parrett & Axe girls and St Catherine’s boys claimed the B team cups at the event.

Ten schools competed at the Sir John Colfox School with approximately 90 boys and 60 girls taking part.

The regular course, using Conegar Hill, was changed at the last minute due to wet conditions.

Individual placings went to Owen Pitcher, from Salway Ash, in first place, followed by Guy Scarborough and Seth Hall-Nunn, both from the Parrett and Axe team.

Anise Tucker from Symondsbury School was the first girl home, with Loveday Found (Symondsbury) and Katie Evans (Parrett and Axe) in second and third place.

The next event will be on the course at Beaminster School on Wednesday, February 10.
