BRISTOL MANOR FARM 3 BRIDPORT 0

BRISTOL Manor Farm ace Dean Stamp almost single-handedly knocked Bridport out of the FA Vase at The Creek on Saturday.

The striker now has more than 20 goals to his name this season after sinking the Bees with a hat-trick in this first round encounter.

Stamp struck once before the break and twice in the second half to take the Toolstation Western League Premier Division leaders through to the next stage of the competition.

Bridport boss Trevor Senior was understandably disappointed to see his side knocked out, particularly as they created a number of chances on the day.

“Overall, we defended well and had good spells going forward, and we made chances, we just couldn’t put any away,” he told Echosport.

“We got into some good positions but didn’t make the most of them and our crosses into the box weren’t great.

“It was disappointing to lose 3-0 but Dean Stamp was the difference, he ended up getting a hat-trick and was the difference between the two sides.”

Going into more detail, Senior added: “We started really well and were on top in the first 10-15 minutes, although the next 25 minutes were fairly even.

“They had an effort on goal which Alan Hill headed on to the crossbar, but there weren’t too many chances at either end.

“Chris Senior had a long-range effort before half-time that went just over the bar.

“We didn’t have anything to show for our efforts and then we got caught out.

“We thought Warren Byerley could have been awarded a free-kick but the referee waved play on. They played the ball to the back post and Stamp finished it off to make it 1-0.

“Shane Evans then found Chris Clarke six yards out but he couldn’t get over the ball enough, and not long after that they scored again.

“They took a quick throw and from the cross Stamp, who had his back to goal, took a touch, swivelled, and hooked the ball over his shoulder for a really good finish.

“We had a great chance after that when Chris Clarke went through and had a chance to shoot but tried to find Darren Watts. The pass wasn’t good enough and the chance was lost.

“Their third came from nothing really. The ball came to Stamp on the edge of our box and he just hit it with his right foot, it took a deflection, and Josh Hadley couldn’t do anything about it.

“Ryan Dovell and Chris Clarke went close for us after that but we just couldn’t score.”
