CADBURY HEATH 3

BRIDPORT 2

LATE goals proved to be Bridport’s undoing once again on their travels as Cadbury Heath struck twice in the final 10 minutes to condemn Trevor Senior’s troops to defeat.

The Bees fell behind early on and never really got going until the half hour mark.

Heath hit the post and Ashley Weeks pulled off a couple of good saves in the Bridport goal to keep the score at 1-0.

But, as they kept plugging away, Bridport got their leveller just short of the break.

Warren Byerley held the ball up well to release to Ryan Dovell, who crossed for Jamie Symes to head home from close range.

Byerley then spurned an opportunity to give Bridport a surprise lead before the interval but his free-header sailed over the bar.

Going down the hill in the second period, the Bees then went ahead just past the 50-minute mark. Matt Condliffe’s shot was parried by the home keeper and Dovell was on hand to slot the follow up home and put the Bees 2-1 ahead.

Bridport carved out another couple of chances to make the game comfortable but, with around 15 minutes left, disaster struck.

Sam Buckler took a knock on his ankle meaning he had to be replaced and Senior had to shuffle things around.

Keeper Weeks, who was kept busy during the latter stages, then beat the ball away and on this occasion it was the home side’s turn to convert the rebound seven minutes from time to level things up.

But Cadbury Heath were not finished, and got their winner three minutes from time as a ball was rifled into Weeks’ bottom corner.

Reacting to the defeat, boss Senior said: “The last 15 minutes is really something we want to forget about because, up until then, we were in control."
