UPLYME & LYME REGIS 161 (18pts) beat Seaton 119 (6pts) by 42 runs

UPLYME welcomed Seaton to the King George V Playing Fields for a fine local derby and came out on top with a superb bowling display.

Home skipper Steve Batey won the toss and elected to bat first .

Openers Alfie Bellworthy and Laurie Thomas started cautiously to the tight lines of bowlers Libby and Morgan.

Bellworthy was then well caught by Bray at point for just two and this began a small collapse for Uplyme as they fell to 15-4, bringing Mark Batey and Harvey Brimicombe to the crease.

Seaton’s Collins had come into the attack and, after a short period of intelligent play, both batsmen accelerated the run scoring.

The recovery by the pair continued to excel as they put on a stand of 100. Their partnership ended on 107 when Brimicombe was trapped leg before to Seward.

Mark Batey was soon running out of partners and moved to 90 before he holed out to deep cover to end Uplyme’s innings on 161.

Seaton openers Pritchard and Moran began the chase after tea and it wasn’t the best of starts after Uplyme’s Paddy Barraclough earned a wicket with just his second delivery when Pritchard was caught by Mark Brimicombe.

That brought Seward to the crease, whose partnership with Moran didn’t last long due to the latter being bowled by a peach of a delivery from Barraclough.

Seaton’s Gibson was stuck in single figures for a long period of time before Rhys Davies had him trapped in front for six and the Uplyme bowler struck again soon after to leave the visitors reeling.

Seaton captain Morgan then followed suit and was well caught by Barraclough off the bowling of former Bridport man Ollie Lee.

Then came Seaton’s best spell as Wheeler joined Seward, and the pair excelled as they managed to revive the innings. They put on 58 before the big wicket of Seward fell when he was bowled by the impressive Daley Holmes.

Richard O’Halloran and skipper Steve Batey then did a good job in cleaning up the tail as Seaton were eventually all out for 119.
