ROUND 12 was the final stage of Bridport Shooting Club’s month-end competition for this season.

Martyn Hyde, who has had a very mixed season after his success in the early rounds when he looked unstoppable, took first place on the night with some excellent shooting.

He will be looking to carry on with this kind of performance next season.

For the final round, the infamous rotary target was used with one standard 25m pistol target on each end of the rotating arm.

Competitors were required to shoot a .22 bolt action rifle with five rounds of ammunition at only one of the targets, then change to a .22 LBP with a further five rounds of ammunition to shoot at the other target.

Mark Follett, who has been challenging for the top spot this season, took second place on the night only one point behind Hyde. He also secured second place overall.

Jerry Trimble, who has shot so consistently throughout this season and is noted for his ability on moving targets, took third spot, only two points behind.

But Andy Weller kept a cool head and shot with confidence for the last round which put him in fourth spot on the night with sufficient points to win the 'Top Gun' title and his third Donegal Medal.

Last season’s champion, Simon Willmott took fifth spot on the night and third place overall with Martin Mitchard sixth.

Prizes were presented at the AGM with Andy Weller, the new champion, receiving his Donegal Medal and a cheque for £30.

Follett, who was in second place, received a cheque for £20 with £10 for Willmott in third place.
