LYME Regis will be at full strength for their trip to Cheriton Fitzpaine on Saturday (3pm), but boss Tim Edwards isn’t holding out much hope of the game being on.

The Seasiders’ opponents have seen their last five home games postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and with the weather forecast not looking too favourable another fixture could be added to that tally.

It is unfortunate for Cheriton as Woodbury are the only team to beat them at their White Cross home in Devon & Exeter League Division Three this term.

They are also unbeaten in their last five outings, though that run does date back to December 6.

Lyme, whose clash with Exmouth Amateurs Reserves last Saturday was called off, beat Cheriton 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

And while Edwards is looking forward to the game, he knows the weather will have the final say.

“Cheriton haven’t played at home for a while,” said Edwards. “I think their pitch is like ours was last year.

“I’m not over-confident that we’ll get a game this weekend as the forecast isn’t great.

“We got through what we thought was the worst part of the season and we expected the pitches to be drying out now, but that’s not been the case.”

In the Perry Street Premier Division, Lyme’s reserves, 6-1 winners over Ilminster Colts last Saturday, don’t have a game this weekend, while Lyme Bantams entertain Millwey Rise in the Arthur Gage Cup.
