STEVE James of Dorset Police hoisted the .44 Magnum Perpetual Trophy aloft as he boasted the highest individual score of the annual shooting competition.

The tournament, which is contested between Bridport Shooting Club and the Dorset Police Shooting Club, took place at the South Street range.

The contest saw James donate his winning proceeds to Help for Heroes, whilst testing his and other competitor's range of shooting skills.

BSC, missing several of their top shots, managed an average winning score of 99 compared to 111 for the Dorset Police although it was a tight contest.

Both teams were required to shoot two separate rounds using a .22 rifle and a .22 LBP, the first being shot at the infamous rotary target and the second at the equally difficult rise and fall target.

Finally, a third round had been introduced to the proceedings with a standard 25m pistol target and a .38 LBP.

Dorset Police Shooting Club have been unable to use the Winfrith range this year, but despite that they narrowly claimed victory in what was a fun and action-packed evening.
