BRIDPORT, Weymouth and Maiden Newton TAGB Taekwondo clubs have enjoyed a very busy month.

The successful month came to a happy end with Evan Beviss, Dave Jones and instructor Chloe Richards (student at Lyme club) competing in the British Championships.

This was held at the Worcester University Arena where more than 1,300 competitors took part.

Beviss was victorious, becoming British champion in his division of individual sparring while Chloe Richards was awarded the title of British Ladies’ Foot Destruction champion as well as bringing home a gold medal in the team sparring event.

Meanwhile, after plenty of hard work, Steve Mines was awarded his first degree black belt by Master Dew, 8th degree black belt. Eighteen students also took their colour belt grading in Honiton.

Everyone passed with Paul Dempster, Emily Clark and Charlie King being awarded with a plus pass, meaning they performed at a significantly higher standard than average.

Scott Carver and Liam Thickett were given the esteemed A Pass, meaning they were outstanding.

Two Bridport students, Kat Law and Steve Phillips, got engaged during class (shortly after Phillips had been presented with his new belt) as he got down on one knee instead of adjusting his belt.
