JESS Boyle scooped the coveted Brian Richards Memorial Belt for the best Bridport ABC boxer of the year at the club’s autumn show.

And Boyle had another reason to celebrate on the night as he also won his fight, seeing off his opponent on points.

While Bridport’s Lucian Sherwood suffered a first-round defeat, Cameron March, who took part in a skills bout, won the Paul Crosby Belt for the best boxer of the night from the host club.

In all, 15 bouts took place at Freshwater Holiday Park in an event that Bridport ABC’s Alan Slaney described as “superb”.

“We had a great night and all of the fights were good contests,” he said. “Everybody enjoyed it.

“Cameron did well in his skills bout and Jess had a win on points.

“Lucian was knocked out in the first round but he was okay afterwards.”

And when looking forward to the 2015 show, he added: “At this time of year you’ve got people who can’t make it because they’re in championships, so hopefully we can have a full programme for our next show.”
