BRIDPORT & West Dorset Golf Club's men’s Sunday competition was a three-man Bowmaker.

This tournament saw one score count on each of the first six holes, two on each of the second six and three on each of the third.

Twenty-three teams took part on a fine, if rather chilly, morning. The winning team was Martin Drennan, Peter Marshall and Dave Franks with 76 points.

Second, after countback, were Kevin Jones, Graham Blunden and Bryn Dare with 75 points, while Mike Savage, Robin Ormsby and Mark McMaster claimed third, also with 75 points.

Veterans’ Section

THE Thursday competition was followed by their AGM and so the competition was shortened to a 14-hole Stableford. Conditions were far from easy owing to a strong, fairly cold wind and consequently the scoring was moderate with one exception.

The winner of Division One was Bryan Holmes and his score of 30 points (equivalent to 38+ over 18) was four clear of his nearest rival.

Vets’ secretary Brian Savery was runner-up in that division with 26 points and Dave Rendell, after countback, won Division Two, also with 26.

RESULTS

Division One: 1 Bryan Holmes (19) – 30 points, 2 Brian Savery (18) – 26, 3 Peter Marshall (9) – 25. Alan Harvey (17) – 24.

Ladies’ Section

THE fourth of November proved problematic for the 29 ladies who took part in two competitions, 24 playing a medal and five in a Stableford, writes Lyn Hargrave.

The five ladies who played on the previous Saturday didn’t do much better from a weather point of view.

Both days were very windy with the Tuesday ladies having to cope with sharp showers as well.

The scores reflected the difficulties with the CSS at 75.
