BRIDPORT 56 ELLINGHAM & RINGWOOD II 29

RORY Greening was the star of the show for Bridport on Saturday with five tries in his side’s big win against Ellingham & Ringwood Seconds.

After a number of injuries and unavailability, the Blues were approaching full strength for the Dorset & Wilts Two South clash.

And the returning Mike Pibworth made an immediate impression, bursting through several tackles from a tap penalty to score close to the posts.

A gusty wind made kicking tricky all afternoon and Greening was unable to add the conversion.

However, he did cross the whitewash himself shortly after, again from a tap pen- alty.

The home side then rather went to sleep, allowing the oppositions’ fly-half to score from the 10-metre line.

A catalogue of defensive errors resulted in a hack on which produced a second try for the visitors.

Andrew Livingston, also back in the Bridport fold, proved his value to the team with a try after some forward pressure.

Greening then added to his tally with a well-worked try and conversion, before Livingston was on the end of a free-flowing move to make it 29-10 at the break.

With the visitors down to 13 men, they suffered further punishment with tries for Lee Burdett, Greening and full-back Nathan Herbert.

Leading 44-10, two Bridport players pulled on Ellingham & Ringwood shirts, and that gave the visitors the impetus to score a third try.

Greening crossed for a fourth time following silky hand- ling from Jason Kidd and Brett Chant after fly-half Ricky Stubbs had initially made good ground.

The away side were to score a further 12 points but Greening had the final word, touching down for his fifth try to cap a superb performance from the Blues.

Bridport are now up to seventh in the table and are next in league action on Saturday, November 15 when they go to Bournemouth Thirds.
