BRIDPORT 76 NORTH DORSET THIRDS 13

AFTER last’s week’s famine, Bridport enjoyed a feast of rugby as they ran in 12 tries to overrun their hard-working, but outclassed, opponents.

Eight of the Blues’ tries were converted with North Dorset replying with two unconverted tries and a penalty as the hosts bagged the Dorset & Wilts Two South points in convincing style.

Bridport were in the points within four minutes, with a move that characterised the rest of the game.

Rory Greening went over the line and converted after some sustained pressure and excellent ball handling. He went on to add two more tries and seven more conversions.

Scrum-half Oliver Everitt was next to score, finding space and taking out three defenders on the way to the line, en route to claiming four excellent tries.

He and number eight, Mike Pibworth, combined very effectively throughout the game, the latter constantly creating opportunities from which others prospered.

There were two fleet-footed tries for captain Dave Cutting, a smart pick up and score from Pete Phillips, a textbook line- out and drive, put down by Ayo Fraser and a storming run to the line from Callum Barnes.

The set-pieces went to plan this week and strong forward play gave a decent platform to the three-quarters to show what they could do.

There was a small blot on the Bridport copybook with some indiscipline leading to a penalty in front of the posts and three points to the visitors.

Perhaps a little complacency also crept in as Bridport began to lose possession in open play.

Smart kicking by North Dorset enabled their very swift right wing to chase down and score twice in succession.

Both conversions were missed.

That was to be it though, for the visitors. Bridport tightened things up and rarely looked in any danger from then on.

Dan Down was awarded the man of the match for a superb performance all around the park at number seven.
