MORE Sir John Colfox students than ever were selected to represent West Dorset at the Dorset Schools County Championships.

Of the 26 pupils taking part, eight returned as champions of the county, four of which – Ryan Smith, Will Bowen Ashwin, Honor Slade and Callum Tuck – were at varying ages in the hammer.

Smith was also runner-up in the discus and shot putt.

Olivia Willmore came first in the 800m and was second in the javelin with a new school record.

Kirsty Wickham also won both the shot and javelin in her age group.

Holly Butt and Lucie Fry were crowned champions in the 100m and discus respectively, and Henry Wyrill (shot), Bronwyn Wright (high jump) and Grace Butt (100m) all picked up silver medals.

Eva Bowring did the same in the javelin but also broke the school record, as did Aidan Daniels in both the long jump and triple jump.

Other Sir John Colfox pupils selected to compete at the event were; Olivia Willmore (800m/javelin), Anna Cleden (long jump/hurdles), Bronwyn Wright (high jump/200m), Rosie Hart (discus), Hannah-Rae Bowell (high jump/800m), Manny Cox (800m), Frankie Chant (long jump/800m), Marcus Burt (800m/discus), Sydney March (1,500m), Emily Courtice (long jump/200m), Katie Paul (100m), Dane James (300m /javelin), Henry Wyrill (javelin/shot), George Wyrill (javelin), Ryan Smith (shot/discus/hammer), Todd Langdon (300m/triple jump), Tom Crabtree (800m/long jump), Will Bowen-Ashwin (hammer/javelin), Callum Tuck (hurdles/hammer), Harrison Tuck (hurdles/discus), Honor Slade (hammer/ shot), Holly Butt (100m), Grace Butt (100m), Imogen Slade (triple jump/high jump), Lucie Fry (discus/shot).

Bowring followed up her record-breaking performance by winning the South West Championships with a throw of 34.75m.

She has now been selected to represent the county at national level in the English Schools Championships on Saturday, where she will be joined by hammer thrower Smith.
