CUP TUSSLE: Beaminster's Tim Carstairs, right, gets ready to pass
FOOTBALL: BILL BAILEY CUP
Beaminster Res 2
Norton Athletic 1
BEAMINSTER Reserves lifted the Bill Bailey Cup on Tuesday night for the first time.
They fought off Norton Athletic in front of a crowd of 150 people at the Memorial Ground.
A scrappy first half saw both teams put in plenty of endeavour but with no real quality, though the visitors opened the scoring just before half-time.
Beaminster fought back in the second half and their efforts paid off after 65 minutes when Chris Parkes headed the ball home.
The equaliser came from the Beaminster's first corner of the game.
Beaminster Reserves boss Robin Ormsby said: "It was an absolutely blinding header."

Their second and cup winner came from substitute Nick Cowie.
Ormsby said: "The ball came to him at 22 yards out and he just hit it into the far corner. It was probably the best goal of his career. He is still on a high. He won't score a better goal, it was fantastic.
"From there we just battled away. They are an experienced side but not really a danger, they scored from their one shot."
He said the team was still in celebratory mood.
"It was an absolutely great result in front of about 150 people," said Ormsby.
"Bill Bailey was a Beaminster man, and Beaminster have never won it so it was great occasion.
