Under-16 QUEEN BEES 4 YEOVIL TOWN 1

A BETH Letherby hat-trick helped Queen Bees end the unbeaten run of runaway leaders Yeovil.

The Bees had to defend strongly against a lively Yeovil attack, but after 10 minutes Letherby scored with a 20-yard chip.

Five minutes later, the visiting keeper failed to hold Annie Armstrong’s shot and Wendy Robertshaw nipped in at close range to double the advantage.

Queen Bees grew in confidence and a series of interchanges between Maddy Gape and Hannah Randal created another chance for Letherby, which she duly accepted.

Yeovil did reply just before the break but that was to be their only joy as Letherby went on to complete her treble midway through the second half.

The foundation of the win was a strong defensive display by keeper Issie Mullins, Lucy Paull and Sophie Hall.

n Queen Bees currently run two teams at under-14 and 16 level and train at Colfox on Thursday evenings (5-6pm). Any girls interested in playing football can contact Patrick Letherby on 01308 424756.
