GILLINGHAM TOWN v BRIDPORT

A CHANCE to bring experienced striker Warren Byerley to St Mary’s Field was too good to turn down, according to Bees’ boss Trevor Senior.

The former Terras and Magpies forward has joined Bridport from Poole Town and is set to go straight into the squad for tonight’s trip to Gillingham Town (7.45pm).

Byerley, pictured, had a brief spell at the Bees in the 2010/11 season and returns to get some game time following a lean spell at Tatnam.

“Warren contacted me to see if he could come down because he has not been playing much at Poole this season,” said Senior.

“You know what you are getting with Warren and that is an experienced player who talks a lot on the pitch.

“I watched him for Dorch-ester last season and he had an excellent game up front on his own against Brom-ley, who were the league leaders at the time.

“He deservedly got man of the match on that day and so when the chance to sign him came it was too good an opportunity to turn down.”

Ashley Weeks is back in goal for the Bees tonight and Gary Bulman is likely to feature in the squad as well.

While Bridport were beating Totton & Eling in the FA Vase last Saturday, Gillingham were losing 3-1 at Bristol Manor Farm in the Western Premier Division.

The Gills have three points from six league games to date and sit one place off the bottom of the table.
