TIM Edwards is in the fortunate position of having a selection headache ahead of Lyme Regis’s quarter-final clash with Parley Sports A in the Dorset Intermediate Cup.

The Seasiders chalked up a fifth win on the spin in all competitions last weekend with a 2-0 league success at Combe Reserves and are desperate to keep that run going this Saturday.

Lyme boss Edwards said: “I was at a wedding last weekend so Rob Thom took the team and, although it was only 2-0 in the end, he said it was fairly comfortable.

“Jack Durrant and Joe Bond got the goals and it was great to keep the run going heading into our quarter-final tie with Parley this weekend.

“We have won the Dorset Intermediate Cup eight times in the last 20 years or so, and have been getting to the final quite regularly, so hopefully we can continue that.

“It has always been a good competition to us and it would be great to progress in it again and get to Christmas still going strong.”

Dave Matthews, Joel Gostling and Harvey Brimicombe are all back in contention for the Parley game and Edwards admits he has some difficult decisions to make.

He added: “It’s a bit of a headache because at the moment we have 17 players vying for 14 spots.

“I cannot complain though, because it is a good position to be in with such a big cup game coming up.”

Lyme currently sit second in the Perry Street League Premier Division, just one point off leaders Crewkerne with a game in hand, while Parley lie ninth in the top flight of the Bournemouth Hayward League.

The last-eight tie is scheduled to kick-off at Davey Fort at 1.30pm.
