LYME Regis can rewrite the record books on Boxing Day if they beat Crewkerne Town to lift the Coronation Cup for a fourth successive season.

Player-manager Karl Diment, who was in the South Petherton side beaten by the Seasiders in the 2009 final, would be honoured to take the club to trophy number four but knows Crewkerne will provide a stern test on the day.

Cloakham Lawns in Axminster is the venue for the showpiece occasion and Diment hopes his men will have created history by the end of the clash, which kicks-off at 11am.

“It would be great to get a fourth win but Crewkerne are a tough side and they have already given us our hardest game in the league,” he said.

“We beat them 2-0 earlier in the season but it will be very close on the day and there’ll probably be one goal in it.

“The squad will be at full strength but they’ve got to stay focussed because we want to win everything.”

Diment is also in charge of the Perry Street & District League XI that takes on a team from the Yeovil Saturday League this Saturday for the Jubilee Cup (2pm).

Will Meech, Mark Bailey, Adam Caddy and Joel Gosling are the Lyme Regis players taking part in the match to be played at Perry Street FC.
