TREVOR Senior has challenged his Bees to make St Mary’s Field a fortress in the weeks ahead.

The Bridport boss is adamant that his side’s home form holds the key to their forthcoming fortunes in the Toolstation Western Premier Division where they currently lie fifth-bottom.

Speaking after last night’s postponement against Bis-hop Sutton, which was caused by the wet weather, Senior said: “We need to put a run together to pull us up the league.

“Next month we will come up against a lot of the teams around us, which is going to be important, but the main thing we have got to try and make use of is our home form.

“We have played 15 games in the league and 10 of them have been away, so if we can use our own ground to our advantage it should see us start climbing the table.”

Senior is also keen to get some of his injured players back as soon as possible.

He went on to add: “We would have liked to have played last night of course, but hopefully the postponement will prove to be a bit of a blessing.

“Not only will that game get put back but it also means the next time we play, a few of the lads will be closer to returning.

“Chris Clarke has started back jogging again and Ryan Dovell is improving as well. It will also give Sam Filkins a chance to concentrate on his university work ahead of big games coming up.”

Next up for the Bees is a home clash against Larkhall Atheltic on Saturday (3pm).

The Larks currently sit in mid-table and Senior is expecting another tough encounter.

He said: “When we went up there earlier in the season we drew 3-3 and could have won it at the death.

“Decisions didn’t go our way that day but it was a tough game against a strong side, so I will be expecting the same on Saturday.”

Bridport have lost their last three in all competitions and have only picked up six points from their last 10 league games

*PLEASE NOTE: Bridport will now host Melksham on Saturday instead of Larkhall. The Larks were supposed to be in FA Vase action last night but the tie had to be postponed and it has now been moved to the weekend.
