BOURNEMOUTH III 204-6 (19pts) beat BEAMINSTER 162-9 (6pts) by 42 runs

BEAMINSTER'S winning streak came to a disappointing end as they were convincingly beaten at Bournemouth by 42 runs.

With a severely weakened side the visitors fielded first on a slow wicket with long grass in the outfield.

A crucial catch was spilled in the second over as two fielders collided attempting to grab the ball which had been sent up in the air. Opener M Rosewarn subsequently scored 81 runs which was the difference between the sides.

Ross Baker (2-24) returned in his second spell to dismiss the hard hitting batsman but by then the dam-age had been inflicted.

Other wickets followed for Aidey Phillips (2-33) who also took two catches and one a piece for Rob Meech and veteran Dave Penman.

In pursuit of 204, the Beaminster batsmen struggled on the slow pitch as wickets fell at regular inter-vals.

The returning Ali Crawford was the most fluent with 24 but youngsters Leo Gurd (28), Will Murley (15 not out) and Lewis Keenan (14) all made positive contributions to ensure Beaminster gained batting points – but in the end it was not enough as they fell to a 42-run reverse.
