STRONG SHOW: Colfox’s cross-country team
COLFOX cross-country team have once again demonstrated their strength in depth by winning two out of the four Dorset Preliminary Rounds and qualifying for round two in three separate age groups.
In the junior boys, Dane James and Jed Holt led the way by finishing third and fourth respectively. They were well-supported by Tom Crabtree (8th), James Cox (21st), Sam Handyside (25th) and Thaisen Chant (29th).
A very nervous junior girls’ side failed to qualify for round two but their time will come and for four of the six team members this was their first ever proper cross-country race, so they did incredibly well. First girl back for Colfox was Sydney March.
The inter girls were always going to find it tough this year as they are all Year Nines competing against Year 10s.
However, they still managed to qualify in third place with Rosie Jones (fourth), Yzzy Tiffin (13th), Beth Hedges (21st), Oshan Vowles (30th) and Gaby McNamee (68th) all producing fine runs.
Finally, the inter boys are always regarded as an unknown quantity and it was an amazing shock to see them win the round overall.
JP Avery was the first Colfox runner home in third place and just behind him followed Jak Ford (fifth) Rhys Hayter (10th), Will Pearce (15th) and Will Bowen Ashwin (21st).
Round two is scheduled to take place on November 10.
