Bridport 0 SHERBORNE TOWN 3

TREVOR Senior condemned his players’ first-half efforts as Bridport crashed out of the FA Vase at St Mary’s Field.

The Bees failed to compete in the opening half of this second qualifying round tie and were unable to turn things around after the interval, much to their boss’ disappointment.

Senior said: “Sherborne deserved the victory there is no doubt about that.

“We were poor in the first half. In fact, it was the worst I have seen us for a long time.

“We didn’t compete and at half-time there wasn’t a single positive we could take from it.

“After the break we then went out and gave a better account of ourselves but at 2-0 down we had left ourselves a mountain to climb and in the end they managed to get a third.

“All three goals were poor from our point of view and it was a disappointing way to go out of a national competition, which everyone should have been up for.”

Sam Jarman, Matt Day and Harry Montacute grabbed the goals for Sherborne.

To add to the Bees’ disappointment, Chris Clarke collided with Sam Filkins in the first half and was left with a nasty cut on his ear and concussion.

Bees: Filkins, Evans, C Clarke (S Buckler 15), Hill (M Buckler 70), Senior, Hayter, Peart, Wise, B Clarke, Dovell (Scovell 30), Luke.
